Tadeusz Rolke: Wrocław
Tadeusz Rolke (born in 1929) is one of the most renowned Polish photographers. He bought his first camera, a Kodak BabyBox, as a teenager in Nazi-occupied Warsaw. He became a professional photographer in the mid 1950s. The most prominent characteristic of his work is the ability to picture the Polish history from an intimate, private angle. He mainly works in the fields of photojournalism and fashion photography, but is also known for portrayals of art life in Warsaw. In particular, his projects from 1950s and 1960s have earned their place in the history of Polish photography.
He worked for Polish weeklies “Świat” and “Przekrój.” His works were also published in “Stern,” “Die Zeit,” “Der Spiegel” and “Art.” He lives and works in Warsaw.
