Do the benefits of strong ties between power and culture outweigh the inherent dangers of that relationship? Can art be apolitical and function without political support, and to what extent it is dependent on politics?
Participants: Pius Knüsel, director of Pro Helvetia – the Swiss Arts Council; Zbigniew Libera, multimedia artist, considered a classic of critical art; Fatos Lubonja, writer and a journalist, prisoner of the Albanian regime; human rights activist; Tomislav Medak, philosopher, a social activist, and cultural animator; Chantal Mouffe, political philosopher, professor at the University of Westminster, and visiting scholar at multiple European universities.
