Congress – last minute

The European Culture Congress will begin this Thursday, September 8 at 17:00. During the opening professor Zygmunt Bauman will deliver an inaugural lecture in the Centennial Hall (17:30). For all those interested in participating in this event who haven’t managed to register for the Congress we have a special batch of free entrance cards which can be obtained in the Accreditation Pavilion (Wystawowa street entrance) on September 7 (15:00 – 21:00) and on September 8 from 9:00.

In order to enter venues for events which required prior reservation one must present his/her accreditation. In case of open events admission will be granted upon presentation of free entrance cards which can be obtained in the Accreditation Pavilion throughout the duration of the Congress. Entrance cards remain valid from Thursday through Sunday. They allow you to participate in the following events:

“10x10 “– exhibitions by young European curators
“Wege zur Behandlung von Schmerzen” – Mirosław Bałka’s installation – part of the Trickster 2011 programme
“Reading Lab: Modules” – literary related installations
“Reading Lab: Comixing” – collective comics drawing
“Emergency Room” – artistic interventions in a special pavilion next to the Centennial Hall
“EU Green Card Lottery” – artistic action by the Société Réaliste collective
“Tomorrow never dies” – exhibition in Design Gallery – BWA Wrocław and Time Capsule near the Centennial Hall
“Reverse Pedagogy” – post-workshop project presentations
“Legs” and “Crazy Dance” – performances by Dawka Energii Dance theatre
“In a drawer” – theatre performance for children under 3 by the Poddańczy Theatre

Moreover, there are numerous events taking place in public spaces in Wrocław’s center and in unrestricted areas of the Centennial Hall complex which are open to all. Admission to the following events is free:

“Future Perfect” – Brian Eno’s multimedia sculpture
“Each one and Everybody” – outdoor spectacle by Groupe F at Słodowa Island
“House of Change” – Krytyka Polityczna’s Project at the Dzieduszycki Family Mansion
“Art Training” – urban game
“Sweeten Your Culture“ –Starter gallery’s action in Wrocław-based bakeries

Last minute
Free entrance cards also allow one to participate in events which required prior registration in case there is free audience room left at the time of the beginning of a given event. Congress volunteers will be served first.

Everyone who can’t be with us in Wrocław is welcome to watch online broadcasts and broadcast retransmissions from the inauguration, 10 debates, A Soul for Europe panels, the closing ceremony of the Congress and the Dock’s Docs Gdańsk Remix contest finale. Broadcasts, in Polish and English, will be available on the National Audiovisual Institute’s websites : culturecongress.eu, nina.gov.pl, uwaganakulture.pl, and dwutygodnik.com
