Kuba Mikurda attends to the theory of culture, especially that of cinema. He is a member of the „Krytyka Polityczna” team and the editor of „Linia filmowa” at the Ha!art corporation. Mikurda co-operated with “Wide Screen” – an international magazine dedicated to various aspects of cinema. Since 2008 he has also been the editor of “International Journal for Žižek Studies”(an online magazine that popularizes the oeuvre of the famous Slovenian philosopher and psychoanalytic). Mikurda works at the Chair of the Modern Culture of the Institute of Culture at the Jagiellonian University.

Mikurda studied at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków and in Ljubljana. He was a PhD student at The Graduate School for Social Research (GSSR) at the Institute of Philosophy and Sociology of the Polish Academy of Sciences, and the winner of the Polish edition of the International Young Screen Entrepreneur competition organized by the British Council.

Mikurda is interested in contemporary film theories. He co-translated „Lacrimae rerum. Kieślowski, Hitchcock, Tarkowski, Lynch” (2007) – a book of essays by Žižek, and translated „The Real Gaze: Film Theory After Lacan” by Todd McGowan (2008). Together with Michał Oleszczyk he published “Kino wykolejone. Rozmowy z Guyem Maddinem” (2009); he also edited, this time with Paulina Kwiatkowska, “Nie chcę spać sam. Kino Tsai-Ming-Lianga” (2009) – a book of texts about Tsai-Ming-Liang, one of the most important contemporary Asian directors. “Trzynasty miesiąc. Kino Braci Quay” (2010), a book about the works of the Quay Brothers, masters of animated films, is his last publication (published in co-operation with Adriana Prodeus). He has recently co-edited, with Kamila Wielebska, a bilingual publication “Dzieje grzechu. Surrealizm w kinie polskim/A Story of Sin. Surrealism in Polish Cinema.”
