Ryszard W. Kluszczyński is a Professor at the University of Łódź and the Łódź Academy of Fine Arts. His field of interest includes first and foremost: video art, multimedia and avant-garde cinema, but he also explores the problems of cyberculture. Prof. Kluszczyński is an art critic and the author of the conception ‘critical art’ that refers to the 1990s and such artists as Zbigniew Libera, Artur Żmijewski or Robert Rumas. He has lately published “Sztuka interaktywna. Od dzieła-instrumentu do interaktywnego spektaklu” (2010).

Graduate of the University of Łódź. In 1990-2001, he was the curator at Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw (he is still co-operating with this institution and gives there lectures e.g. on the Internet as a space of cultural activity). Academic teacher at the University of Poznań (2001-1006) and the PWSFTviT in Łódź (since 2003).

Prof. Kluszczyński is a juryman and organizer of events dedicated to multimedia art (Locarno, Oberhausen, Graz), and a member of the editorial staff of the scientific yearbook “Art Inquiry”. He was recently one of the curators of the exhibition “Beyond Mediations” (Poznań, 2010), where the newest technology merged with traditional means of artistic expression. Author of many books, among others “Film – sztuka Wielkiej Awangardy” (1990), “Obrazy na wolności. Studia z historii sztuk medialnych w Polsce” (1998), “Społeczeństwo informacyjne. Cyberkultura. Sztuka multimediów” (2001).
